![]() Hello, I am using a Word form to fill in information collected on the first page into following pages. I have used the OLE objects to do that (copy form component, insert as a link), however the OLE links refer to the original document while I would like it to refer to the currently opened document (which would allow me to use several forms at once). Is it possible to do that? I know there are more ways to skin the cat (scripting, XML component) but cope-special paste is probably the only option I have now. |

Fields or content controls are usually easier if you want to reuse information. See http://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/repeating_data.html.

Hello, I am using content control text fields (I hope that is the propper term, I am using a different language variation). My issue is that OLE links are absolute - linking to the original document, while I need them to link to the actual document.

Sorry, I don't understand why you need OLE links. Could you elaborate on that?

Sure! The first page is used to collect the data (identification of subjects, dates...). Rest of the pages are documents that are using these data. So I put the name in a text area in the first page and it is automatically filled-in on the rest of the pages. Each data is used multiple times.
I am sorry for my English ![]() |

How are you creating these OLE links? I tested using Paste Special and noticed no difficulties with content from within the file.
However, as I already said, I think you will find http://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/repeating_data.html more useful...

That was one of the first webpages I have checked
![]() I would need the OLE links to be relative - always pointing to the document that is being used right now (that is the new one, not the original one) - then I will be able to update form fields (content controls) at wish in every new copy I will create. Is it a bit clearer? |

OK, I see what you mean, but I'm afraid I don't have a useful suggestion... :-(
