If each Chapter is started with a Section break, the different first page setting for headers and footers would, indeed, be the answer. This has been true since at least Word 97, and, I believe since Word 2.
AFAIK, this works the same on the Mac version as on Windows versions. Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word 2007-2013 |
