Default Automatic updating / Linking fields / cross referencing

I have a template which is filled in for new projects. However some parts of the document always change, eg. dates, name of project etc. Is there any way that if I change one part, e.g the date on the first page or a table on the first page, other pages linked to the first page automatically change?

I have tried cross referencing but it doesnt seem to work with information contained within a table, for example if there is a date of submission in a table, I am not able to update just the date and have other parts of the document cross reference to the date and update automatically.
