Are you talking about the Windows High Contrast accessibility feature?

Default Color in word 2013

I am saying once you select the high cont mode you cannot change font color for any word or phrase in your document because the font color only follows that set by the high contrast. In word 2007 font color is independent of high cont so this problem does not arise. I am not sure about word 2010. Does anyone know?
