Default How to provide different formatting in a caption?

What I want is:
"Fig. 2.3. Graph of XYZ"
Here '2' is the chapter number.
Additionally, I am getting Figure instead of Fig. ...
Please help.

Default Figs

Open the Caption dialogue with [Alt+S,P] or Refernces/Insert Caption. Select New label and enter Fig. (Do not type a space after it; Word will do it.) OK that, then press the Numbering button in the dialogue and check the Include chapter number.

Does that do it for you?

That works, but the main issue remains unresolved: how to get only Fig. 1.2 emboldened and not the description?
