How did you set up numbering in the first place? Is it style-based? Did you apply manual restarts or are numbers part of a multilevel list?

Unless there is conflicting formatting in the target document (that is, if you applied a different kind of numbering there), both kind of restarts should survive copy and paste.

Also, which are your default settings for pasting?

Hi Stephan,

Yup, using the default style List Number, and have set up a list style that uses a multilevel list.

For "Pasting between documents when style definitions conflict", it's "Use Destination Styles (default)".
