On the 1st page of a new document and when a table is present on the first line, what is the correct method to insert contents before the start of the table?
what i'm doing now is 1. cut the table away 2. insert content to page 3. paste table back to document which i believe is not the correct way. do let me know what's the best way to do it. thanks! Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 05-16-2014 at 09:26 AM. Reason: Mark as solved |

I'm sure there is a better way, but what I would do is insert a row at the top of the table, select the blank row I just inserted, and convert it to text.
I've just learned to never put a table at the top because of this. |

If you place the insertion point at the beginning of the first cell in the top row of the table and then press Enter, Word should add a paragraph above the table. Alternatively, click anywhere in the first table row and click Table Tools Layout | Split Table.

You are welcome.
The method certainly isn't intuitive...

No it's not, but it works at least as far back as Word 2003! Thank you for sharing it.
