Default Reformatting the spacing for numbers

I have a large document that's been created from cutting and pasting other documents. The numbering is all off so I've been selecting each number and redefining the indentations. Is their an easier way to select the numbers I want to change? and then change the spacing of placement of the number and the text that follows?
