![]() formatting! I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips? my problem - i'm trying to format tables and figure labels and titles and as per APA formatting. For example, a table label and number is in regular font and the title is in italics on the line below. Table 1.1 This is what I want I'm using the caption feature in word as have lots of tables and want to be able to cross reference and make a table of tables later. If I apply a different style to my title versus numbered label and put them on separate lines they are no longer linked together so I can't see the title in my cross referencing or table of figures/tables. I think I've cracked it for figures as their title is on the same line as the label so have been using ctrl alt enter to separate styles. but the table formatting has got me stumped - any help greatly appreciated! ![]() |

Maybe a soft enter (Shift-Enter) to get the separate line?

I just tried this and it keeps the title text on the following line in with the caption label which is great but now I can't split the text into a different style to the label

Use a character style, like "Emphasis." for your second line. Word will still see it as being in the paragraph style for Table of Figures purposes.
