In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, you can assign a keyboard shortcut to a specific font. Click Office button | Word Options | Quick Access Toolbar | Customize. Be sure to save the shortcut in the Normal template.
However, you will find it easier to change the default font to Arial and then specify the font you want for the heading styles, and use them to format the document consistently.
