I may be old but I know how to handle a computer so I indeed opened Word doc and not pdf. Anyway I now saved this document as Microsoft Open Office doc and can edit it. Maybe it had something to do with the correct rights to the maps etc. I changed that too but still cannot edit original document. Problem not completely solved but I can manage. Thanks for your reaction.
