I"m using MS Word 2010 and Adobe Acrobat Pro X.



I have a Word document to which I've added a series of checkboxes. Content control checkboxes, NOT legacy control checkboxes. Some of the checkboxes are indented. I am NOT using tables.

I have two (2) problems with which I will appreciate some help:

First, when I convert the document to PDF, only the non-indented checkboxes are interactive, meaning I can check them and uncheck them when the PDF is open. The others are visible, but not interactive.

Second, assuming I can overcome this indentation issue, can someone please tell me how to group the checkboxes or link them in a manner that allows the "state" of some to be dependent on the state of others?

I am using the same software and can 'try' & help with the first problem. In doing so, I will "assume" that you converted the file and created a "form" (using "Tools/Forms/Create").

If you did create a form with this file, Adobe should have picked up all of the check boxes and highlighted them. If you did create the form and Adobe did NOT pick up all of the check boxes, you can create a check box by right-clicking anywhere on the form and select "Check Box" then draw a square over the boxes that Adobe did not pick up. Format the properties for the check boxes and close the form editing.

I am doing exactly that; converting to PDF, then using "Create Form" in Acrobat. I understand I can manually create checkboxes, but this effort is part of an automated process. I'm trying to get it down manually before I write the VBA code.

I just don't understand why it "sees" the ones that are not indented, but not the others. Some of what I've read indicates a similar issue with content controls that are inside tables, so I'm guessing there's a solution out there.

The only thing I can think of that may cause this is that the check boxes are not the same size. Oftentimes, if the boxes are too small, Adobe will skip right over them.
