I created a form in Word. I protected the document so that only the form fields can be changed. What I also want to do is force the user to create a new document (Save As) and not over-write the form document. I am using this form to register Service Tickets for a business.
I seem to remember being able to do this in Word 2003. I am using Word 2007 and Protection is enabled. Any help would be appreciated. |

Save it as a template. Have the user use Office-Button>New to create a new document based on it. (Double-clicking on the icon or a shortcut to the icon will do this, too.)

I will have to save the template to the template location, correct?

File New Variations in the Versions of Word If the user is just double-clicking on the icon or a shortcut to the template, then it does not matter where it is stored. I prefer to store it in either the user templates folder or in the workgroup templates folder, so it can show up in the new file dialog. |

Thank you for this solution. It wasn't what I had in mind but it works so, problem solved. Thanks.

You are welcome. I think as you get used to using templates, you will find them a real time-saver.
