Word.doc File Won't Load

Files that I receive as an attachment won't open. I click the file and Word for Mac 2011 starts and the title appears followed by (Compatibility Mode). There might be a title at the top of the page and only pictures appear but no Text. There may be some lines across the page.



I opened 5 or 6 Word.doc files ( from Word for Mac 2000) on my HD and they opened fine. Also in (Compatibility Mode).

This is a new version I just purchased and started to use.

Which e-mail application are you using? Someone suggested that if you are using a web mail service, such as Gmail or Hotmail, with Firefox, you can't open attachments without downloading them to the hard drive first.

Stephen, I'm using Mail and have never had a problem with my lower Operating System 10.5.8. Now using 10.6.8.

OK, the problem may be specific to Macintosh. Ask in a Mac forum, for example at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/m...=1388316318063.

You may also have to ask in a group that deals specifically with the Mac operating system.
