Hi just checking in to see if anyone has encountered the following problem. When I cut and paste either withing the same document in Word or from Word to Outlook, the formatting stays the same but then the cursor jumps to the next line. It's no big deal but just rather annoying. I just updated word with a Macro that allows me to create any fraction not just the standard 1/2, 1/4, or 3/4. I got the coding from a website and it works like a champ but I can't figure out why cut and paste went awry. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office with no success. I do admit that on certain advice I opened up what is called normal.dotm but it was beyond my feeble attempts at controlling. I made some entries to give me a larger indent on the right margin but I don't know if that's what affected the cut and paste and can't figure out how to get back there to see if I can figure out if that's what caused the new problem. Anyway Help!!! Thanks.

When you write that the cursor moves to the next line, do you mean that the text indents unexpectedly? Please clarify.
If you are saying that the problem started after you installed the macro, try removing the macro temporarily and see if that fixes things.

No it does not indent it simply drops to the next line almost as if it had a wrap text command; but that doesn't make any sense since I don't recall changing anything. It's all quite strange.

just turned off the macro and tried the cut and paste and still having the same problem where after I paste the text the cursor drops to the next line instead of staying at the end of the posted text. Also just noted that when I click on the auto correct smart tag and select keep text only the cursor goes back to where it should be but then I lose my formatting. It seems like a catch 22 situation.

Each text "line" could be terminated by a paragraph mark (¶) which would explain the text "wrapping" that you see.
Could you attach an example document that illustrates the problem? Remove any sensitive information from the file first. If you don't see the option to add attachments, click the Go Advanced button at the bottom of the thread.

I see nothing unexpected in the file. When I select a whole paragraph, and then copy and paste it, I would expect the insertion point to end up in the following paragraph; this is because each paragraph in Word is terminated by a paragraph mark (¶) and because Word, by default, includes the paragraph mark when you select a paragraph.
To change the behavior, clear the "Use smart paragraph selection" option at File tab | Options | Advanced.

Stefan I am so embarrassed. Right after I zipped off a reply to you I was looking at a block of text and highlighting to copy and paste and had an epiphany from where you had mentioned the same exact word default that included the paragraph mark at the end of a sentence; and so I selected all the text but the mark at the end and voila the issued was resolved. Thanks loads for your patience. I am humbly your servant.

I'm glad you got it sorted! :-)
Do you find that turning off "Smart paragraph selection" makes it easier to exclude the paragraph mark? Note that you can show/hide paragraph marks, as well as other nonprinting marks, by clicking the ¶ button on the Home tab.

Stefan, indeed you are correct. Turn off smart paragraph selection makes it all much easier. Thanks again for your good sound advice.
