Unhappy Pages in Word are not the same height, rather annoying !

As the title says the pages on my Word documents are all different heights. I have been putting up with it for a while but it is just so annoying !!!!

It is Word 2010 and I can increase the height of the pages by hitting return several times but I just want to have all of the pages in the document A4. I have chosen A4 as the page size in the page layout tab but it doesn't seem to do anything to the short pages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Jeremy Krieg

Hi Jeremy
Without seeing a copy of your document it is virtually impossible to investigate the issue. If there is nothing sensitive in it can you save it as a "Template" and post a copy. Saving it as a templates ensures that all your formatting is retained.
Thanks
Tony

Two pointers:

Show "white space" between pages in Print Layout View.
File > Options > Display
This is an Application-wide setting. It appears to be unchecked from viewing your screenshot.

Make sure the vertical alignment of your pages is not set for center or bottom.
Page Layout > Page Layout Group > Dialog Dropdown > Layout Tab
This is a section-by-section setting and can be different in each section of a document.

High guys ,

Thanks for the help ,

While trying to look for the vertical alignment option you suggested Charles I found a breaks option Page layout > Page setup > Breaks.

I just selected Page ("mark the point at which one page ends and another begins" and its all fixed now !

by the way my alignment was set to "top"

thanks heaps guys
