Pasted pictures go all over the place, not at the cursor

Would anyone have any idea why when I paste pictures in a Word 2007 .doc they never go where the cursor is? They go all over the place, sometimes two or three pages above, or the end of the page, etc. I can just grab and drag 'em where they need to be but it's getting very annoying. How can I stop this behavior. Thanks

P.S. I'm copying the pictures from another Word document, not inserting.
