Reading through the thread again: Let me clarify the anchor business. If an image is, say, three paragraphs below its anchor, dragging the anchor will tend to drag the images along with it, at the same distance, possibly jumping to a new page. Therefore, you must first select the image and set its text wrapping to Inline. Again, this move the image to the anchor position. Then, as long as the anchor is not locked (which prevents moving it away from the paragraph), you can move the image to a different paragraph, after which you may then, by changing the wrapping to square, move the image to the right, align it with the margin, etc.
