I have a 900-page word document (office 2010, Vista 64-bit OS). I want to automatically generate a table of contents with links to the first word of every five pages, that is, a TOC that shows 180 words linking to page 5, 10, 15, 20, ...., 900.
Is that possible? |

In Word, tables of contents are based on paragraph styles or TC fields. In other words, the TOC doesn't directly reference a page.
Is there a chance thats every five pages start with a paragraph using a particular style? Alternatively, if you can identify the content by other means, a macro may be used to insert TC fields.

The document lists 230,360 six-card deals (with much duplication) (and with accompanying information) in ascending order from AAAA22 to QQKKKK. What I want is to be able to jump to a particular deal (or at least within a few pages of that deal) by picking out a nearby (in sequence) deal in the table of contents. The 230,360 deals are arranged in 64 rows and four columns per page, so there are 900 pages. If I use the first deal listed on each fifth page, I will end up with 180 bookmarks in the table of contents. (I do know, by the way, what those specific 180 deals are, in case that makes a difference in any potential macro.) Thanks for any help you can give. |
