Default Hyperlinks linking to bottom of previous page.

Hi, I'm Joe, and new to the board.

I am in the process of editing a book for Kindle.
I have a Table of Contents and that's followed by the list of all chapters.
The list of chapters is in "Normal" style.

There is a poem on each page and the title of each poem is at the top styled in "Heading 1".

When I go back to the TOC and click on each chapter and link it to each page, all seems to go well until I go to check them, and they ALL go to the bottom of the previous page.

I finish each page with a page break.
I'm doing something wrong somewhere (obviously) and I've spent hours over this.
I hope I have gave you enough info for you to help me.

Thank you

Joe

Hi Joe,

The hyperlink in the TOC goes to the start of the heading paragraph. A manual page break will be inside the paragraph, so the start of the paragraph is at the bottom of the page.

Instead of manual page breaks, use the paragraph formatting of Page Break Before in your style definition for the heading being used for your titles.

Default Problem

Hi Charles. Can I start off by saying thank you for such a quick reply,
but I'm sorry I still don't get it.

I have sat with your instructions open and tried to see how to implement what you were telling me, but can't.
Can I ask another favour?

Treat me like an idiot (should be quite easy) and go through it step by step in what I have to do to fix it.
Let me explain to you how the bottom of each page looks and the start of the next page where I want the hyperlink to go.

Last line of text then the return symbol, beneath that
a small black box at the start off the line then ------page break-------

(Next page)
Title Of Chapter, then return symbol
another return symbol
Poems Text
(small black square) -----------page break-----------------

Then onto the next Title of Chapter, return key, then return key.

When I go to TOC, to add a link, I go to the title that I want to link to.
Highlight it, right click it and click Hyperlink.

Then I click on "Place in this document", go to the title I want to link to, click on it then click OK.
The Title in the TOC then become clickable but when I click on it, it takes me to the bottom of the previous page.

Sorry to be a nuisance.
Joe

Hi Charles.
Thank you for your help.
I just kept at it for hours and finally I solved it.
I don't know exactly how I fixed it, but it just was.
Thanks anyhow.
Joe

Default Got it fixed.

Sorry, posted the above twice, and couldn't find how to delete it.
