Office '07
Oddly, outline has stopped behaving. When I click on any outline format including bullets, the first level indicator appears, I type something, hit return and the next line appears at the same top level as the first. However, when I tab at the second line, instead of the tab dragging the level indicator to the right and changing to the next lower value the tab simply moves to the right leaving the top level indicator unchanged and stationary? |

Click Office button | Word Options | Proofing | AutoCorrect Options. On the AutoFormat As You Type tab, make sure that "Set left and first indent with tabs and backspaces" is selected, and then click OK twice.
Alternatively, you can use Alt+Shift+Left arrow and Alt+Shift+Right arrow for promoting and demoting outline lists.
