It may be gone. Period. This is one of the primary causes of document loss. The correct practice is to save the file to your hard drive, in a location where you can find it, and then open it from Word, not open, edit, and save.
If it exists is in a temporary files location for Windows. This location is not set within Word. What happens when you open Word and look in your recent files there? |

Thanks for your reply and I guess that I learned the hard way. Word does show some recent files but the one I need is not among them.
