Default Track changes: same timestamp/date on every comment balloon

Hello. I am having an issue with track changes. I can work on a document that has 2 reviewers or up to 10+ reviewers. Sometimes I see that in comment balloons the timestamp/date is the same on every single one. I do not understand why this is happening. If anyone has run into this error before, please let me know if its a setting in Word that I need to unclick, etc.

Exactly the same problem is happening for me!

My client requires the date/time stamp on comments to be accurate, and they are not accurate.

Does anyone have an answer?

Thanks!

The date/time will reflect when the comments/changes were saved. Until then, they're just potential comments/changes.

Default Thank you!

Macropod,

Thank you. This answer is so simple!

Follow on question: If I save the Word file immediately after making a comment, does that date/time stick? That is, will that date/time always be the same for that comment, even when I save the file later?

Or, does the date/time change every time I save the file?

Yes, if you save the file periodically, the time stamps for each set of changes will be tied to the times they were saved - they don't update upon a re-save.

Dear Paul in Canberra,

Thank you for resolving this issue.

The well-intended folks at MS support were willing to charge me $99 to "fix" the problem ... which you point out is not at all a problem, but rather a misunderstanding about the date/time stamp on comments.

I see that for EDITS to my Word document, the actual date and time stay linked to when I made them. But COMMENTS are different.

Now I understand. Thanks, again, for responding to my issues. You saved me a world of trouble!
