Printing to specific printer tray
Hi I have just replace a HP 2200 printer with an OKI B431dn.
There are 2 word 2010 documents both created from templates and I want both of them to print to the multipurpose tray. One of them stubbornly refuses. I have tried every setting in the printer, the setting in Word Options that allows selecting a tray (this is on use printer defaults now). I have even tried changing the order in which I do things i.e loading the paper then opening Word and visa versa. My conclusion is that is definitely a difference between the 2 documents that is causing this. What could it be? A macro or something else in the template? There is nothing different about how the documents are printed, we just use File Print or use the quick print button. Hope someone can help. |

Have you tried the Printer Properties in the Word Print dialog?
Two different templates? If so, you could try attaching the problem document to the other template and see what happens. |

Thanks Charles
I have found a setting in page setup that seems to have made the difference. There's too many places having the same settings. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Phil |

You are welcome.
Printing in Word can be a real headache. Documents can have settings, sometimes inherited from a template, Word has settings, the printer driver can have settings, and the printer itself can have settings. I've never figured out any hierarchy. I generally try to make my choices in the printer Properties. Those seem to stay in effect in the current Word session until changed. You can also install additional virtual printers in Windows that have different tray settings for the same physical printer. |
