As Charles Kenyon points out, Word doesn't really think in pages. Until someone comes up with a more sophisticated answer, remember the two easy "block select" options:

• double-click to select the first word, scroll down, shift+click to select the last word
• F8 to mark the start of the selection, scroll down, click to mark the end

These make it easy enough to select the content you want to delete.
