Hi,
We have form letters that are sent out from our dept. for code violations. Most of the letter is standard language, but we have a long list of violations and each letter may reference any number of them. I'd like to set it up so that we can just select the applicable citations via a checklist or pulldown etc and have the body of the letter only show those items. I'd also like the other parts of the letter to space accordingly so that we don't have large gaps for letters that only have a single citation. Is there a way to do this? Thanks Brian XP, Word 2007 |

There are a number of ways to do this. The most elegant method would be to use a Userform that would gather address information and could have a checklist of code violations that could be checked off. When the person using the form was finished checking off the violations they would click the OK button and the letter would be constructed, putting the language you want in an appropriate place in the letter. This requires VBA (macros).

Thanks Charles,
The letters are being generated from our code enforcement software. Basically we set up word templates which the software populates with info from the database record. The letters open as Word documents so I was hoping that I could alter the initial form in some way, since doing this within the code software will be cumbersome and require a whole bunch of expensive involvement of their tech support folks. |
