I have word 2000. Yes it is old, but it has always worked fine for me, and I write a lot.
All the sudden a problem developed.
When I copy to clipboard, in whatever manner (clicking copy or just trying to drag highlighted text to new location), the whole program just shuts down.



I have tried to search on this issue, but the 'paste special' solution made no difference. I can not think of anything recently installed that would cause this, but I have installed many games, programs and updates. But I always have. This pc is a gaming rig and a book writing beast. I can usually figure this stuff out....
This must have happened to someone else.
Can anyone direct me to the thread?

Have you tried repairing Office (in case something has happened to the installation)?

Alternatively, since you say you install a lot of programs, the cause might be a poorly designed add-in. Look at the troubleshooting steps for add-ins in the Knowledge Base article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us/ (How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word).
