Please see the attached doc -- this is a new one to me. We have received a document in which the graphics are not showing, not are they selectable without selecting lines above and below. That is, The cursor jumps directly from the above paragraph to the one below, and no graphic or anything else is selectable normally or with the Select objects tool. The space simply appears as an unselectable blank. HOWEVER, by selecting from above to below the space, in some cases, at least, a blue box appears, and, when copied and pasted to a new doc as a picture, the graphic appears, albeit with the other lines also selected. The person who created the now 120-page doc has no clue.
Naturally, I have checked Word settings for showing hidden text and displaying graphics, in case something bizarre had happened on my machine. I suspect document corruption at this point, since a simple paste the same selection to a new document crashes Word. Any ideas? This is rather urgent. |

You're not exactly making it easy to diagnose by posting a document containing screenshots rather than the problem content ...

Regrettably, I am not at liberty to post the corporate graphic, which may include proprietary material. I thought that, perhaps, the screen shots would indicate a problem familiar to someone else.
I'll let you know if I solve the mystery. I can hardly wait to see today what else is lurking in the document! |

Could be way off track here, but might someone at some stage have tried to used linked graphics? I've seen various postings suggesting the mechanism isn't always as stable as you might wish.
File > Info > Edit Links to files would let you check quickly. |
