I have created a form with some regular and rich text controls and a date picker. This is created as a template (dotx-file). In the template-file everything works as expected and I can test-fill out the form.
When I create a new document based on the template with the form, the form fields are just displayed as normal text. They don't act like form fields that I can fill in and tab between. Am I missing something? I get the form action when I save the template as a document instead. But doing it this way means that we can't utilize the template concept in Word and risk overwriting the original document with the form. Any pointers? |

Hi Jorgen
If there is nothing sensitive in the template can you post a copy and I will take a look for you. Thanks Tony |

Have attached a docx-version of the file now (forum doesn't allow dotx files). Just try to save this as a word template inn appdata\blabla to be able to create new document from template.

Hi Jorgen
I have tested your template and it works fine for me. The only thing I can think of is have you protected your form before you saved it as a Template? Good luck. Tony |

Thanks for testing. Yes, I did protect the form, but this shouldn't be necessary as far as I can understand.
You were able to tab between fields after first saving the document as template, and then choose file > new and then create a new document from the template? When I tried creating a document from the template, trying to tab between then fields actually inserted a tab and didn't take the cursor from field to field. Maybe my Word isn't working properly. |

My colleague tested saving the file as template, create new document from template and filling out the form. Worked like a charm.
Apparently my Word-installation that isn't working as supposed. Problem solved |
