Default Top of 2nd page higher than 1st

I'd be grateful if anyone can tell me why my 'top of page' isn't level here:

Ever hopeful!

Default top of page more info...

sorry, should have said they're both formatted with the same Style - if fact the 2nd page is a copy and paste of the 1st, with just the 'head' number altered to make them visibly different. The only thing I can think of that might make them behave differently is the page break, but I changed 'keep with next' to unticked.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks.

Hi Anne,

That suggests your document might have a page setup with the 'different first page' and/or 'different odd & even' options checked.

Thanks Paul. 'Different odd & even' was ticked (because I thought I needed that for the page numbers to mirror in the doc that this is a test file for) and Header is 1.25cm. I unticked 'Different odd & even', deleted the page break, saved the file and inserted a new page break and it's still the same. 'Mirror Margins' is ticked and top/bottom/left/right/gutter are set. Section break is set to 'Continuous' but there aren't any in this file.

Hi Anne,

Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab.

Hi Anne,

Your document is acting as if it's configured to suppress the 'space before' after a manual page break, even though that option isn't set. I suspect some low-level document corruption, as copying & pasting all except the last paragraph break to a new document resolves the issue (for me).

Default Top of Page ...

Hi, Paul,

thank you very much for taking time to look at this. I've tried copying and pasting without the last paragraph break, and many other things that your suggestion made me think of trying (including modifying the Style to have 'page break before' and removing the manual one), but they haven't resolved it in mine. At least I know what the particular source setting is that's causing it and can address it again.

Anne
