Click References tab | Cross-reference. Select "Numbered item" for "Reference type," and select "Paragraph number" for "Insert reference to." Click the number that you want to reference, and click OK.



Note that cross-references, like most fields, do not update automatically. You can update all fields in the selection by pressing F9, or you can trigger an update of cross-reference fields, as well as some other types of fields, by switching to Print Preview (Ctrl+F2) and then back to your previous view (ESC).
