Default problems with Word

Hello, I'm having some problems with Word 2007.

The biggest issue right now is that when I paste things in they're often double spaced or more than that. I can click on the various 'template' at the top that have different fonts and spacings bunched in (what are they called?) but they use a different font than I want. So the reliable fix is to keep rightclicking, go to paragraph, and fix from there. But that's a pain. Is there a more convenient way?

Hi BigDan,

You could use Paste Special>Unformatted text, which removes all the source formatting and inserts the pasted content with whatever format applies to the insertion point in the target document. Alternatively, you could change Word's paste options, via Word Options>Advanced>Cut, copy & paste, to alter the way Word handles pasting between documents.

thanks. how do you access paste special?

actually what i was hoping to get was a single-click way of making text single-spaced (or is it called no spacing?), does that exist?

As I said in my last post, you do that via Paste Special>Unformatted text.

As indicated in my last post, you might be able to get the results you're after by adjusting the settings under Word Options>Advanced>Cut, copy & paste. For example, one of the options for the way Word handles pasting between documents is 'keep text only'. This will probably give you the desired single spacing, but its removal of other formatting might be less desireable. Whether that or one of the other options best suits you needs is something onl you can decide.

Boy, are you going to slap yourself silly!!

- From the "Home" Ribbon, click on the the small icon just below "Paste" (far left-hand side of the ribbon)
- A small drop-down menu will appear
- Click on "Paste Special"

...go from there.

UPDATE: Just realized that you were referring to 2007 version. I replied referencing the 2010 version. My apoligizes for jumping the gun.

Well, after reviewing the 2007 version (at home), the same steps above apply.
