Default Locking Text Box Position - Word Mac 2011

I've been tasked with creating a Word letterhead template for a number of departments on campus. These departments must be able to type their department name at the top of the letter and contact information at the bottom. In between these two (ideally) fixed text boxes they need to type the content of their letter.

Everything works fine until the letter content flows to a second page. This causes the text boxes to reflow / change position. Is there a way to fix these boxes so that they won't reflow / reposition?

Thank you!

Why not use the Header/Footer positions for you letterhead and contact data instead of text boxes? Headers/Footers are constant.

If you need other data in these positions (i.e., page numbers in the footer) then you may have a enlarge the footer area.

Hope this helps...

That is how I originally created the document. But I had a complaint by a key client who didn't like how the Header and Footer did not display correctly in Print Layout. They said that they send native Word documents to others and needed it to look right in that mode.

But now that you mention that I do have a question ... when I experimented with the Header/Footer method before, the Header/Footer appeared on every page that was created. Is there a way to restrict it to only appear on the first page on multiple page documents?

I am considering providing two templates. One using the Header/Footer for those who want it.

Found it.

On Mac 2001 it is in two places:
1. a checkbox in the Header and Footer Robbon

2. a check box under the top menu Document > Layout
