Hi. I am a Newbie here, so please bear with me if I stumble a bit in the process.
MS Word 2010 The problem is probably a simple setting but I don't know where to look. None of the obvious tabs have a solution, at least not in vernacular that I understand. If I use a hard return in the middle of a sentence, Word automatically makes the first letter of the next word upper case. This is not a problem in MS Word because I can use the formatting tools and just let the sentences wrap, but my Word settings translate into my Outlook. When writing an e-mail message, I don't want my lines of text to be the full width of my monitor, so I use Hard Returns. ![]() |

Go to File, Options (below Help). A new window appears.
Select Autocorrect Options. Unselect 'Capitalize first letter of Sentences' |

Thanks Sam - that was a great help. For the benefit of others referring to this thread, in my version of MS Word, there is a 'proofing' selection to make in the 'options' window.
