Hi ...
I created a destination document in Word 2010 with multiple source documents using 'includetext' fields. I also checked the Advanced Option General to 'Update automatic links at open'. But, when I open the destination document, the recent changes to the source documents do not appear. Did I misunderstand how 'includetext' works? If it does not show the latest version, is there another option for combining documents? If it does update, would you let me know what I am missing? Thanks for your help!! ... Natalie |

Thanks for the quick response!
The manual update of fields works, but I was looking for an automated process since I will not be maintaining the source documents and will not know when they are updated; had the impression that checking the advanced box would automatically do that. I found an older post on macros - do I need to change to a link and then add the macros to do the automatic open and update? I have not worked with macros - do they follow the document so that they apply to anyone who opens it? |

Those instructions are soooo easy! Pasted the macros from the older post following the FAQ and voila! Auto update!
So grateful for your help! THANK YOU ![]() |
