In word 2010
I got a figure with an automatic numbering legend. Figure 1.1 Title of the figure XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX Then in my text I say: In figure 1.1, we can see a lot of X. Is there a way to link the automatic numbering of the figure with the number in the text. If I put the figure in another chapter... I got to change all the number's in the text. In my thesis... I got around a hundred of those. thanks |

Assuming that you have used Word's caption feature for your caption numbering, then you can insert a cross-reference to each numbered item.
To insert a cross-reference at the location of the insertion point: On the References tab, click Cross-reference. In the "Reference type" box, select the caption label. Choose an option for "Insert reference to," click the item in the "For which numbered item" and then click the Insert button.
