Thanks for the reply, Stephan. However, when I manually substitute a different symbol for a character (uppercase for lowercase or vice versa) using Insert > Symbol, the change is tracked as it should be, so it's not apparent why the Change Case tool (or Shift + F3) doesn't trigger Track Changes.

In any case(!), I guess I'll have to do the job manually.

Good point. I guess that, to Word, inserting a symbol (from the Insert Symbol dialog box) is closer to editing the document than "converting" uppercase to lowercase. When you think about it, this is more or less arbitrary, of course.
