I have thoroughly researched many places on how to change and set the default setting in Word. It is presently defaulted to Calibri, font size 11.
1. I have tried the simple clicking of the "font arrow" (ctrl +d), changed the font and size, clicked "default" and OK. Didn't work. 2. I tried changing the "styles". (ctrl+alt+shift+s). I right clicked normal/modify, changed the formatting and size and chose "new documents based on this template, clicked OK. As long as I don't close the blank sheet, and open other new blank sheets, my change remains. I soon as I close everything and open again, I am back to the old Calibri/11 which is way too small for me. I do have "normal.dotm" if that helps any. My computer is a new HP h9-1180, a few months old, Win7 and MS Office was installed under program files (x86). Some of the above suggestions have helped others but I still have no solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

This link should help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291291. It worked for me several months ago.

One peculiarity that I noted.... After having gone through the Font group setting choices, then clicking "default", I do get the message "do you want to change the default font to (font name). I clicked YES, however the next step says to click OK. I am unable to click OK, because the moment I click YES to the message, the font page (with the OK button in the bottom right corner) closes before I can click on it. Could this have any bearing on the problem? Any other suggestions, please? |

Strange...and, yes, I imagine it could be a stumbling block. However, I no longer have the 2007 version installed so, I cannot duplicate the problem from my computer (I have the 2010 version installed now and the instructions for 2010 work as described).
Here is another link (basically the same...but try it out): http://washburnlaw.edu/technology/ho...ontspacing.php |

Thanks for your efforts. Yes the above is the same and it does not mention that I must click "ok" after saying "yes" to saving for all documents, so I am quite sure that I'm doing it correctly. Having spent a good deal of money for my Office2007, I hate to abandon it. Most annoying that there is no solution. ![]() |
