To repair Word/Office 2010: Click Start menu | Control Panel. Make sure that "View by" is set to "Small icons"; then click Programs and Features. Locate Office in the list of installed application and select it. Click Change and then choose the Repair option.

Dear Stefan, THANK YOU. Tried it and your suggestion did not work. Today Excel started doing the same thing. I did notice that there was a microsoft security update on the 11th to office 2010 pushed to my computer which is recent enough to make me think it was that.
Thinking of deleting that update to see if it would fix but may reach out a little more before I do. Any other suggestions? Any one else have any? |

The symptoms suggest a damaged installation. If you exit all Office applications and then delete the Data key for Word in the registry, does that improve the situation? For this and more troubleshooting, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us/ (Troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word 2010, 2007, or 2003).
