Default Dripping Font Problem

I have an old (but up to now problem free) version of Word - 2002, SP3 - on a laptop running Windows 7, 64 bit. I use Word constantly, often up to 12 hours a day, every day (I'm a writer and an online photography teacher).

The problem is that in the last week or so the font displayed in Word (usually TNR 12 point) starts to separate from itself, almost as if it is dripping or melting on the screen.

I have Googled this extensively but I can't find anything on it, although I get the feeling it won't be that uncommon.

If anyone can throw any light on the issue, I would be very grateful.

Stephen

Does the problem occur only in Word or with all applications?

If you print the document, do you still see it or is it a display issue?

Thank you for the reply, Stefan. It only happens with Word and it's a display issue only, and it clears when I close the file and then reappears when the document has been on the screen perhaps half an hour.

It does not happen with all documents, although it does seem to be happening more frequently recently.

That suggests a problem with your display driver. Check the maker's webiste for an update and install the most recent one that applies to your system. If you're alredy using the latest version, re-install it so as to ensure you're not using damaged files etc.
