![]() You will have to change the "Outline level" of the paragraphs that appear in the Document Map. Change it to "Body Text" (Paragraph dialog box). See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/DocumentMap.htm.

Thanks for your time, Stefan.
But the Outline level already appears as Body Text. Funny thing: If I go to one of the bad paragraphs (a List Bullet style for example) and click on the style in the Styles pane, it corrects the problem - that specific bullet disappears from the Doc Map. But all the other problems remain. I have to do each one individually. But I cannot do this every time I open the doc. Any other ideas? Thanks again. |

The Document Map may apply an "Outline level" which is different from the setting in the style definition; that's the problem with the Document Map.
Reapplying the style would clear any direct formatting (= formatting not in style).
