How if your page numbers were set using the Format Page number function, they should be the same on the TOC.

Go to one of your page numbers in a header or footer and press Alt-F9 to reveal field codes. What do you see? (Press Ctrl-F9 again once you've looked.)

\* Arabic

for both odd and even.

When I started the document, my mistake I assigned Roman numerals. But I changed that to Arabic. Only in the TOC showing Roman.

I deleted the TOC, and inserted a new one. BUT......incredible it may sound, even in the TOC definition showing Roman for all styles! I don't know how to change that.

You need to change the formatting of your page numbers. Not with a switch, but with the Format Page Numbers command (under the Insert tab).

Please read the chapter on sections.

You are welcome. I am far from being a genius, I've just been wrestling with Word for a long time.
