I am trying to find a way to override the default setting that will not allow me to place lines of type all the way to the very bottom of each page. It's leaving blank lines instead of allowing me to SPLIT a short paragraph that hits the bottom of the page. It insists on placing that entire paragraph on the NEXT page. This ruins the look of the pages, as it is a book (with page size 6x9")
I sure would appreciate info on where in the menus I can find a way to unset this auto feature. Thank you! Phyllis ![]() |

hi Phyllis,
Your description suggests you have the paragraphs formatted with the 'keep lines together' and, possibly, 'keep with next' attributes. This is not Word's default arrangement. You should only apply the first of these settings to paragraphs whose content you want to avoid splitting across page breaks and the second should generally be reserved for headings. To fix this, click anywhere in the paragraph concerned, then go to Format|Paragraph>Line and Page breaks, and uncheck the the 'keep lines together' and 'keep with next' options. You should ensure the same configuration for whatever Paragraph Style you're using for the body text.

Macropod, thank you verrry much. That did the trick! I never checked those boxes myself. Hubby must have done it. All fixed now, though!
