I am using Word 2007 on a system consisting the following Intel i5 @2.8Hz and 12GB ram running win 7 64. Now the issue is that my Word docx sits in memory with a size >1GB (graphics heavy). Once the RAM usage gets close to 4GB Word 2007 will not save the docx file and the save crashes.
What I get is the following: It starts to save then brings up the "save as" menu continually never actually saving a document. When closing Word it goes into the same routine. I have had to turn of "auto-save" as that actually crashes Word which when that happens Word will not load up the file saying there has been a serious error. This happens only when the RAM usage closes in on 4GB (I have 12) Is there a threshold set for Word? (smells like a 32 vs 64 bit issue) Is it my file? I cannot split the file as TOC, Captions and Indexing are used. The file is around 190 pages. My only recourse is to stop everything and ensure less than 2GB are being used before launching the prog. I have to save every change which is very frustrating and have several back-up copies (at present I have 5 i.e. when I save I save 5 times!!!) Any advice? Thanks for any. btw I did search the forum but did not find anything resembling the problem Nick |
