Windows Vista no page numbers -- how do i get them back -- only {page} at the header

Oops Word 2002 not 2007

Tools > Options > View Tab (default)
in the area for Show
[x] Field Codes

I don't have Word 2002 on my machine but the above path works in Word 97 and Word 2003 so I assume it would work in 2002.
