Nevermind. I found a macro that works perfectly to convert numbered lists to regular text and maintains all the formatting in the lists as well as in the numbers themselves.

For Each lp In ActiveDocument.ListParagraphs

lp.Range.ListFormat.ConvertNumbersToText
Next lp
