The program refuses to produce the page number in the font that I have chosen, but it's only happening on the even pages.

Go to a page where the problem is present (an even page) and under the Insert tab go to Footer and click the choice to edit the footer. Find your page number and set your font for it. Make sure the tag on your footer window doesn't say "odd page footer." For more see
