can't change header or footer

I am trying to insert roman page numerals at the beginning of the document. The first three pages are supposed to have no page numbers, so I need to start with number "iv" on the fourth page. I inserted a section break and went insert page number but the problem is in the footer it says "same as previous" and I don't have any way of changing it. I don't know how to get inside the footer info to make changes. So it inserts numbers on the previous pages. This seems to be a problem with Macintosh; I only know how to access the footer menu in the PC version. The Mac version doesn't seem to give you any way of accessing it. I have Word 2011 for Mac Home and Office edition.



Does anyone know how to do this?

You might try asking your question on the Word Mac forum on Microsoft Answers.
If Word 2011 shares the ribbon interface of Word 2010, as I suspect. Look on the INsert tab for a Header drop-down. It should have a spot to edit header. Once there, you will have a header/footer ribbon that lets you change the same as previous setting.
