Copy + Paste from Word to Word WITHOUT heading styles

I screwed up my heading styles in one word document that contains a whole bunch of notes. Now, I've found a way to reset Word settings (via registry setting) and I'm good to go on a new document. However, if I copy and paste all of the content from the old document to the new document, it overwrites the default Headings with the screwed up ones.

Any idea how to fix this?
