Hy!
I encountered this problem several times. Text sometimes get places out of the page (partially or entirely) in Print View in both MS Word 2007 and 2010 too. The text itself doesnt become deleted or anything.. i think its only a display bug. The following link show a picture about the problem: http://imageupload.org/en/file/19951...oblem.jpg.html Can anyone point out the problem? Regards, Robert |

Hi Robert,
Have you tried updating your display driver?

Hi Robert. I feel your pain. It's happening to me as well -- on all Office programs. Have you noticed it on Excel and/or PowerPoint as well? I've been at this for 3 weeks now, with my highly skilled I.T. guy and we are stumped. We've replaced the video card twice, updated drivers twice, power source once, checked for heat problems, and upgraded from Office 2007 to 2010. He's convinced it's a software problem. The problem is still present but much more tolerable in Windows Classic mode. Today I'm going to systematically uninstall and reinstall all add-in programs. All my programs are up to date. I've Googled this topic to death and am beyond frustrated.
Out of curiosity, what type of monitor do you use? Paul - given my description, any ideas? |

Hi ksm,
Given that it's nearly two weeks since I suggested to Robert that he update the display driver, and he's not responded to say it didn't work, I can only conclude doing so resolved his problem. As for your issue, given that you've tried two different versions of Office and multiple applications within them, it's unlikely to be an application software problem. Of course, if it is, and if it relates to components that Office 2007 & 2010 share across multiple applications, then upgrading quite possibly won't fix anything. I note too that your profile says you're running Office in 64-bit mode. That can cause problems with adins, as many don't work properly in that maode. This is also why MS generally recommends against using 64-bit Office just yet. Even so, your description suggests a more fundamental issue with the OS software. As yet, you haven't given enough details of what your issues are to give specific advice, though reinstalling Windows from scratch will probably fix whatever it is.

Hi Paul - Thank you for your response. Good news! Samsung hinted that my specific monitor model had reported compatibility problems w/ W7. So to test that theory, I bought a new monitor today and, so far, all is well. Doesn't solve my need to understand root cause but it solves my need to be fully productive again. :-) What I do with two beautiful 21.5" Samsung monitors remains to be seen.
I don't understand your comment about 64-bit. I've been on Windows 7 64-bit from the beginning and, until three weeks ago, had no problems. Could you please elaborate? We didn't try reinstalling Windows 7. |

Hi ksm,
The problem isn't with Win 7 64-bit, but with Office 2007 & 2010 in 64-bit mode. Even then, it's not that Office has a fault, but that some addins don't work properly, or at all, with 64-bit Office.

Thankfully the new monitor seems to have solved the problem! The root cause? I may never know.

Hi ksm,
The Samsung monitor's incompatability with Win 7 is odd, indeed. It suggests there has been a lack of hardware compliance on Samsung's part with the Windows standards, for that monitor at least, and that the display drivers for previous versions didn't unmask it. If the monitors are still under warranty, then Samsung is liable to repair/replace them.

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately my monitors aren't under warranty. But it's the 2233SW model for those who might visit this forum in the future.
